Our policies
Privacy policy
This website has no cookies, no analytics, no ads and no accounts, and our phone apps keep what you do on your phone. This page sets out the little information that does pass through, who can see it, and how to write to us about it.

This website
When you visit murooah.com, we set no cookies and run no analytics or advertising code, and there is no account to make. Our web host, like every web host, may keep short technical records of each visit, such as your device’s internet address, the page you asked for and the time, in order to deliver the page and keep the site safe, and we do not use those records to find out who you are.
The typefaces
Every typeface on this website is a file we serve ourselves, from the same place as the pages, so nothing on these pages loads from another company’s server.
When you write to us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write, and we use them only to reply to you. If you ask us to delete your messages, we will do so.
Messages sent through the Contact form pass through Formspree, the service that delivers them to us.
Our apps
Each of our apps has its own privacy policy inside the app, and the short version for each one is below.
Miqa
Miqa has no internet permission, so it cannot send anything off your phone by itself, and it has no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking. It uses your approximate location to work out prayer times, keeps that location on your phone, and leaves its settings out of cloud backups. Information leaves your phone only when you choose to send it, for example when you email us or open the form for reporting a problem, which is a Google Form.
Mirtal
Mirtal is in closed testing and is not yet public. It has no internet permission, no account, no ads and no analytics, and when we checked version 1.4 we found no code from other companies that reports on you. It asks for the microphone only when you press Record, everything it does with a recording happens on your phone, and a recording leaves your phone only when you choose to share or save it.
Sijill
Sijill is not available yet, so what follows describes how it is designed rather than a finished app. It is a web app with accounts, your notes are private by default, and the people who run it cannot read your private notes. Passwords are stored only as one-way scrambled codes, no emails are sent to you, since you keep recovery codes instead, and you will be able to download your data or delete your account whenever you wish.
Where AI is involved
Mirtal uses speech recognition on your phone, the whisper.cpp engine running a model made by Tarteel, to work out which part of the Quran is being recited. The recognition only points to a place in the Quran text stored in the app, and it never writes, completes or changes the words.
Children
Our apps and this website are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your rights and how to write to us
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it or ask us to delete it, and we will do so. In practice, the only information we are likely to hold about you is an email or a Contact form message you sent us. Please write to info@murooah.com about this website, or to support@murooah.com about one of our apps.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and add a line to the list of changes, so that you can see what changed and when.
