Quran research: what we are doing and where we are
This is the research behind our apps, with what we are studying, where each piece of work stands and what we hope it will reach. Some of it is still at the planning stage, and the note beside each piece says which stage it has reached.

Our goals
These are the aims that run through all of our research, set out here in one place.
- Find the open Quran data that already exists, and check it against published sources
- Fill the gaps in that data by working with others, rather than on our own
- Make small tools that anyone can use to check a Quran text for themselves
- Tell which ayat were recited in a recording, and where, without ever generating or changing the text
- Learn why people leave Quran apps, and let what we learn shape how we build
- Hold our own apps to a written promise that anyone can check
What we will not claim
An answer we are unsure of is never shown as exact, and we publish no figure until it has been checked. Where a question is still open, we leave it open here until we have something we can stand behind.
